By 1870, the distillery on Bow Street had become a city within a city, employing hundreds of workers. Several generations of families worked at the Jameson Distillery. Various professions such as carpenters, blacksmiths, joiners, painters, etc., were passed down from father to son, and once hired, workers usually had a job for life.
The first Jameson whiskey bottled on Bow Street in 1963 was released under the name Crested Ten. At that time, Jameson whiskey was available in 68 markets worldwide, exporting 15,000 cases annually to the USA. For many years, Jameson had a blending operation in London to service export markets, but Irish trade was always done in casks. Jameson Ten was the first whiskey from Jameson to be bottled. Within a year of its introduction, Jameson Ten was renamed Crested Ten and kept this name until 2016.
On June 5, 1970, the last drops of whiskey were distilled at the Jameson Distillery on Bow Street, ending almost 200 years of whiskey production in Dublin. The Old Jameson Distillery reopened as a visitor center in 1997 and underwent further modernization after a major renovation in 2007.
The popularity and growth of Irish whiskey sales meant more space was needed for production. The Jameson Distillery moved from Bow Street to Midleton, County Cork. To this day, every drop of Jameson whiskey enjoyed worldwide is produced here.
Today, Jameson Distillery can boast not only of its whiskey but also its visitor experiences. In 2018, Jameson Distillery Bow St. was awarded the "World's Leading Distillery Tour" at the 25th World Travel Awards ceremony.
